We discussed Jesus' Mission Statement - Luke 4: 16- 21 (Isaiah 58: 5-12) as well as Matthew Chapters 5, 6 & 7 (Sermon on the Mount) & Luke Chapter 6 (Sermon on the Plain). These are some main examples. The Gospel of Matthew(6:25-34) offers something that many Buddhist fins akin to Siddhartha Gautama
Matthew 6:25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[e]?
28 "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. The Gospel of John offers some poignant insights too. For example, John 8: 1- 11- Woman caught in Adultry
*Notice the format in describing your source. Three short paragraphs. The first is a brief synopsis of the source (book, article, etc...) . With a book, you are obviously not reading the entire book before submitting the bibliography, but you should skim much of it.
Second, a brief paragraph focusing on why you find this source to be important for your work. The third brief paragraph should state in a couple of sentences what chapter or part of the source you will employ in your project.
The above video is geared toward a formal research paper but should help clarify what an annotated bibliography is.
Reading - Please read pages 77 - 81.
Wednesday through Friday - We will begin "unpacking " Chapter 3 of Text pages 77 - 107. Key to the Praxis Project and our course of study is "The Circle of Faith-in-Action" found on page 78. This is a similar "circle," one that touches upon the reflective nature of "doing justice."
Understanding our individual worldview is very important in this course AND life. It will change depending upon our experiences and processing of those experiences.
Assignment: Read pages 77 -87
